Privacy Policy

Introduction

Up Games LLC ("Up Games," "we," "our," or "us") makes the Loopy app for iOS and operates the Loopy website and waitlist. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect across all three, how we use and share it, how long we keep it, and the choices you have.

In short:

• We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
• The app does not use the Advertising Identifier and does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
• Photos you back up are encrypted on your device before they leave it. We cannot view them.
• Usage and crash reporting is on by default and can be turned off in the app’s Settings at any time.

Information We Collect

Information you give us

Waitlist. When you join the Loopy waitlist on this website, we collect the email address you enter.

Events emails. In the app you can join our upcoming-events email list by entering an email address, or by turning on "Email updates" in Settings. If you sign in with Apple and have not opted out, we add the email address Apple shares with us to that list automatically; you can turn this off in Settings at any time.

Sign in with Apple. Signing in is optional. If you do, Apple shares your name and either your email address or a private relay address, depending on what you choose in Apple's prompt. We store the email address on your Loopy account.

Messages. If you contact us, we receive whatever you include in your message.

Your Loopy account

The first time you open the app it creates a Loopy account with a randomly generated account identifier, so your memories can be backed up without a sign-up wall. That account holds no name or email address unless you later sign in with Apple, which upgrades the same account in place.

Photos and memories

The Photobooth uses your camera only while you are taking photos, and saves finished strips to your device's photo library with your permission. Face effects are processed on your device; we do not collect face data.

Memories you keep in the app are backed up to your Loopy account so they survive a lost or replaced phone. Before upload, each photo, thumbnail and note is encrypted on your device with a key that lives in your iCloud Keychain. We store the encrypted files and a small amount of unencrypted metadata about each memory (its date, whether it is a favorite, and file names). Because we never hold the key, we cannot view your photos or notes — and if the key is lost from all of your devices and iCloud Keychain, the backup cannot be recovered by us either.

When you delete a memory, it is marked deleted immediately on every device signed in to your account and permanently removed from our servers within about 30 days.

Feed preferences

To rank the cards in your feed, the app keeps a summary of which kinds of cards you tend to pick (category tags and counts). That summary is synced to your account so it carries over between your devices. It contains no card text.

Usage and crash data

We use Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics, both provided by Google LLC, to understand which features get used and to find and fix crashes. With this on, the app sends Google:

• How you use the app: which screens you view; which games and vibes you start, finish or leave; and whether you open, capture, customize or share in the Photobooth. Content is referred to by an internal id only.
• App version, device model, iOS version and language.
• Your country or region, estimated from your IP address (not your precise location).
• Identifiers: a random installation identifier for this copy of the app, and a Loopy user code — a scrambled (hashed) form of your account identifier that cannot be turned back into your account.
• If the app crashes: a technical crash report (stack trace, app state, device model and OS version, free memory and storage, orientation), the user code above, and the screens and actions that led up to the crash.

Usage and crash reporting never includes:

• Your name, email address or account identifier
• Photos, face or face-tracking data, or anything from your camera
• Memory notes or captions
• Player names, secret words or numbers, or the text of any card, prompt or deck
• Search text, share recipients or per-person game outcomes
• The Advertising Identifier (IDFA) or any advertising data
• Your precise location

Notice about device identifiers. The identifiers above are generated by the Firebase software in the app and are tied to this installation of Loopy and to your Loopy user code. They are not the Advertising Identifier, are not used for advertising, and are not shared with other companies' apps or websites. Google processes this data on our behalf; you can read how Google uses information from apps that use its services at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Technical information (website)

When you access our website, our hosting, infrastructure, and security providers may automatically process basic technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, timestamps, and request or server log information. This information may be used to operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and protect the website.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Run the app: create your account, back up and restore your memories, and rank your feed
• Understand which games, vibes and Photobooth features are used, so we can decide what to build and improve next
• Find, reproduce and fix crashes and bugs
• Manage the Loopy waitlist and events list, and send the updates you asked for
• Respond to questions, feedback, and support and privacy requests
• Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and secure the app and website
• Prevent fraud, misuse, or other harmful activity
• Comply with applicable legal obligations

We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell it or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law, respond to valid legal requests, protect the rights or safety of Loopy, our users, or others, or investigate fraud or security issues.

If Up Games is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of all or part of its business, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law.

Your Choices

Usage and crash reporting. Open the app, go to Settings → Privacy, and turn off "Share usage & crash reports." Analytics stops immediately and your user code is removed from it; crash reporting fully turns off the next time the app starts. You can turn it back on the same way.

Emails. Turn off "Email updates" in the app's Settings, or email us to leave the waitlist or events list.

Camera and photos. You can change the app's camera and photo-library permissions at any time in iOS Settings.

Your memories. Delete individual memories in the app, or use "Delete all" under Settings → Memories. Signing out keeps your photos on the device and stops backup for that account.

Deleting your account and data. Email contact@loopy.games from the address on your account, or include your Loopy user code from Settings, and we will delete your account, your backed-up memories, your events-list record, and the usage data associated with your user code. We may keep limited information where required for security, fraud prevention, or legal compliance.

Access and correction. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal information. To exercise any of them, contact us at contact@loopy.games.

Data Retention

We keep personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy:

Waitlist and events-email address

Until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it

Loopy account (account identifier, and the email and name Apple shares if you sign in)

Until you ask us to delete your account

Backed-up memories (encrypted photos and thumbnails, encrypted notes, dates, favorites) and feed preferences

Until you delete them in the app. Deleted memories are permanently removed from our servers within about 30 days.

Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure. Backed-up photos and notes are end-to-end encrypted as described above, and your account data is protected by access rules that let only your signed-in devices read or write it.

No method of transmitting or storing information is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children’s Privacy

Loopy, our website, and our waitlist are not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

International Users

Up Games is based in the United States. If you use Loopy from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States or in other countries where our service providers operate.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Loopy evolves or as our practices or legal obligations change. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page, and for material changes we will also let you know in the app or by email where we can.
